I have been to Italy many times and the food is something that never disappoints but I must say that in Milan it was wonderful! One of my very good friends grew up in Milan and gave me a list of recommended places that I think deserves to be shared with the world so please enjoy the top 10 places to eat in Milan:
Center, Pt Venezia & Pt Romana:
Be&ats - this is the perfect place for brunch.
La Briciola – beautiful restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere specialising in seafood and fish. All the dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. Try one of the pastas with seafood and the octopus .
La Brisa – an elegant restaurant surrounded by a beautiful garden. The menu changes every month and tries to follow the seasons. The roast pork here is particularly famous.
Gino Sorbillo – very simple pizzas with not many options for the toppings but greatly cooked. It is a very popular place so you will have to queue otside most probably, keep it in mind! By the way.. in my opinion the wait it is worth it!
Il Salumaio di via Montenapoleone – definitely not cheap but one of the best meals that I had in Milan. The food was fantastic and location spectacular! If you go during the summer months, they have a great terrace on a beautiful patio.
Brera, Garibaldi & Como:
La Bullona – located in a beautiful building this restaurant is pure modern designed. The atmosphere is elegant and the menu offers a variety of fish and seafood dishes.
Salsamenteria di Parma – I really like this option for lunch. It is a very small place but classic and authentic. The offer of cured meats is fantastic, make sure you try some mozzarella for starters. As a main try the ravioli… it’s to die for!
Navigli &Tortona:
Trattoria Bolognese da Mauro – this is a very authentic trattoria, not pretentious at all and where the centre of everything is the food. Enjoy the classic home made pasta dishes and desserts!
Montalcino – this typical Italian restaurant has Tuscany influences on the menu. They offer fresh pasta, pizzas and amazing tartars (their speciality) that you should definitely try!
To finish our list of recommendations, this is not a restaurant but a must on every single trip to Italy… the ICE CREAM! During tour visit to Milan make sure that you have a GELATO at Rivareno… simply fantastic
P.S: if you haven’t had enough and need some breakfast recommendations try these 3: Marchesi Galleria, Cova Montenapoleone & Gattullo.
