Best time to go: Summer is probably the best time to visit the city and if you are lucky maybe it will be sunny! (They have more sunny days than you would have thought to be fair).
Our favourite hotel option is the "Titanic Hotel Liverpool", absolutely beautiful and with a very cosy vibe but a bit far from the city centre.
If you want to stay in a more central location "Quest Liverpool City Centre" is the recommended option.
Day 1: Docks and The Three Graces
Start the day walking alongside the river Mersey towards the beautiful Three Graces. The Three Graces consist of the Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building and they situate themselves on Liverpool’s Pier Head.
Port of Liverpool Building - it was the first of the Three Graces with construction starting in 1904 and opening in 1907 as the headquarters of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board until 1994.
Liver Building - construction of the iconic structure began in 1908 and opened in 1911. It is adorned by two Liver Birds, the city’s signature landmark. The Liver birds are the city’s emblem and you’ll find them dotted across Liverpool’s precious architecture. There is a quite interesting guided tour of the building that apart from explaining you the history of it will take you to the rooftop where you can enjoy amazing views of the city (you have to book the tickets in advance).
The Cunard Building - built between 1914 and 1917, with a style influenced by both the Italian Renaissance and Greek Revival. Since the building first opened and until the late 1960s it was the headquarters of the famous and still-going-strong Cunard Cruise Line.
The recommended stop for lunch is at "Duke Street Food Market", offering different types of cuisine in the main area and a Spanish restaurant upstairs. For the restaurant it is recommended to book in advance.
After lunch, the mandatory stop is at the Royal Albert Dock - a complex of dock buildings and warehouses opened in 1846. It was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone and the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world. At the time of its construction the dock was considered to be revolutionary in its design because ships were loaded and unloaded directly from or to the warehouses. Today, it has become the most popular attraction in Liverpool. The Docks are full of life with loads of shops, restaurants, museums and bars.
You will also find here the famous "The Beatles Story" and "Tate Liverpool" museums, not a bad option to visit if the weather is not being nice to you!
The recommended restaurant for a great dinner is “The Italian Club Fish”, obviously as the name indicates, the fish here is amazing!

Day 2: Neoclassical architecture and Cathedrals
The following day you can start right next to the Liverpool Lime Street Station where there are a few interesting neoclassical buildings worth checking out. Have a nice walk around St George's Hall, World Museum, Walker Art Gallery and the Central Library.
After, you can visit the St.Luke's Bombed Out Church Gardens. Last summer all the garden area was transformed into a nice outside bar that was so nice! I am not sure if this is going to stay but definitely worth going to check it out.
After a brief stop it is time to visit the Liverpool Cathedrals:
Liverpool Cathedral - is the Cathedral of the Church of England. The cathedral was constructed between 1904 and 1978. The total external length of the building is 189m making it the longest cathedral in the world. In terms of overall volume, Liverpool Cathedral ranks as the fifth-largest cathedral in the world. Dedicate some time to explore the St. James Mt and Gardens that is just behind the cathedral, it is a beautiful walk.
Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral - is the catholic Cathedral. The cathedral's architect, Frederick Gibberd, was the winner of a worldwide design competition. Construction began in 1962 and was completed in 1967.
The recommended restaurant for dinner is "Mowgli Street Food”, a very nice Indian restaurant that has become quite popular and now you can find few around the city.
If you have more time to explore and you are a beer lover, make sure you go to “Love Lane Brewery” offering loads of beer and gin types and the food is impressively good!
