Best time to go: July and August are the best months to visit the nordics. Very long days with incredibly long sunlight hours and very mild temperatures.
General advice: when booking a hotel take in to account that it is quite common for hotels in Stockholm to offer rooms without windows or a private bathroom, so make sure you have checked that before booking.
Recommended hotels are “Hobo” or “Nobi Hotel Stockholm”, both very well located.
Day 1: Arrival
After arrival, I would recommend to go for dinner at this incredible seafood restaurant called "Lisa Elmqvist”.
Day 2: City Centre
For your first day I would suggest to follow the below itinerary:
Stockholm City Hall - one of the most famous city halls and where the Nobel Prizes are presented.
The royal palace - one of the biggest palaces in Europe located at Gamla Stan (the city centre), you can only access this area by bike or foot.
Livrustkammaren museum - exhibition of antiques, clothes, weapons etc (free entrance).
Medieval Museum of Stockholm - where you can see remains of the medieval wall of the city.
Stockholm parliament - located on Helgeandsholmen island.
Stortorget square - where the most beautiful buildings in the city are located.
Wooden Horse Museum - where you can find the replica of the Dalarna horse.
Lunch at "Stockholms Gästabud” a very cosy Swedish restaurant.
After lunch walk towards Djurgården island. On the way at Strandvägen street there are many boat cafes and bars that are very nice to have a coffee or a drink.
Djurgården island is surrounded by parks and nature and here you can find 2 of the most famous museums in the city:
Skansen - outside museum with a recreation of the old neighbourhoods of the city.
Vasa museum - where you can find a boat that sank off the coast of Stockholm in 1628.
Recommended dinner at Tapir restaurant, a cozy restaurant with a very nice terrace.
Day 3: Boat trip
For your last day I would recommend to go for a nice brunch at "Nybrogatan 38”, and after to do a boat trip.
There are many options on the type of boat trip, you can visit the archipelago islands or the canals, and these trips can include or exclude lunch etc so there are many options to choose from.
